KNH used the Direct Procurement method to purchase medical equipment to set up the Infectious Disease Unit (IDU) at Mbagathi Hospital. The reason for use of the Direct Procurement method was because they were dealing with an emergency and the Centre needed to be established within 7 days. One of the conditions of the tender was that the suppliers had to deliver the equipment within 24 Hours after award of the contract which was done on 4 March, 2020. It was however noted that there were firms that delivered the equipment later than 4 March, 2020 contrary to the conditions of the tender.
