Grantees

In our first cohort of grants and mentorship, we celebrate the following investigative journalists who went beyond their call of duty to investigate and expose issues of corruption, transparency and accountability:

Iqra Salah

Iqra Salah is a reporter with BBC. She investigated Kenya's growing burden of drug resistant Tuberculosis as a significant strain on the country's economy and the health of the patients.

Osman Mohammed

Osman Mohamed Osman is a freelance journalist who contributes to Ajazeera and other outlets. Osman revealed several cases of unpunished medical negligence causing permanent disabilities and even death.

Amina Wako

Amina Wako has published her work with Standard Media Group, Huffington Post, Destination Magazine and Kenyan Women Magazine. She currently works at Nation Media Group. Amina investigated misuse of NG-CDF funds in Embakasi South Constituency.

Stellar Murumba

Stellar Murumba is Code for Africa’s Project Manager in charge of its Fact-Checking and Verification initiative - PesaCheck - in Kenya Uganda and Tanzania. Stellar sampled bottled water from various parts of Nairobi, analysed and published shocking results o on health safety of the water.

Brian Obuya

Brian Obuya is a Crime and Investigative Reporter at KTN. Brian investigated a case of fraudulent claims by private hospitals to the National Hospital Insurance fund, that have taxpayers cost millions of shillings.

Diana Kendi

Diana Kendi is an award-Winning Multimedia Freelance Journalist. Diana's investigation highlights the lack of awareness of the program amongst mothers in Nairobi, Kajiado and Kiambu counties.

Sarah Nanjala

Sarah Nanjala is a Kenyan journalist and writer who is passionate about humanity reportage especially on issues touching on women and children. Nanjala highlighted a grim picture of sanitation crisis in Nairobi's primary schools.

Julius Otieno

Julius is a reporter with the The Star Newspaper and is passionate about reporting on governance and health services.

Daniel Muteti

Daniel Muteti works as a reporter and host at Reuben FM, a community radio station in Mukuru Kwa Njenga. Muteti investigated how funds meant for development of public schools were misused in Embakasi.
